Overview Hamburger Boi is the loyal sidekick and dependable second pillar of The Helpdeskers. Though often seen as comic relief by outsiders, that is mostly because outsiders are stupid and tend to underestimate anything with sesame seeds and a cape. Behind the cheerful expression and retro mascot look is a capable, brave, and deeply sincere hero who earned his place on the team through action, not pity. He is one of the clearest examples in Tech City of someone dismissed by society who rose to become genuinely essential.
Origin In his early days, Hamburger Boi struggled to find any kind of dignified place in Tech City. Because he is, inconveniently for the prejudiced, a sentient walking and talking hamburger, most ordinary people treated him like a freak rather than a person. As a result, he was pushed into humiliating and low-status work across the city’s burger chains, usually stuck doing mascot labor, dancing promotions, cleanup work, and whatever else management could dump on him while pretending it was an opportunity. That changed during a major attack on the city’s Security Matrix by the villain Impasta. In the middle of the chaos, Hamburger Boi witnessed The Helpdesker being overwhelmed by Impasta’s Meatball Minions. Instead of running, hiding, or doing what most civilians do when danger appears, which is becoming suddenly very bad at moving, Hamburger Boi stepped in to help. Fighting alongside The Helpdesker, he helped turn the tide and defeat Impasta. Recognizing both his courage and usefulness, The Helpdesker invited him to become a permanent member of the team. From that moment on, Hamburger Boi was no longer a background mascot. He was a Helpdesker.
Public Legacy Hamburger Boi’s public standing grew rapidly after joining the team, especially following his role in major city-saving actions such as the 24 Hour Spam War. Though The Helpdesker remains the face of the organization, Hamburger Boi became something equally important: the team’s heart. To the public, he represents resilience, loyalty, and the idea that even the most overlooked person in the city can become heroic when it matters.
